Jo Van Arkel

I write stories, essays and poems about ordinary people on extraordinary days. Sometimes I venture into magical realism, rewriting fairy tales and myth. I got my M.F.A. in Fiction from the University of Oregon and have been a long-time professor of English at Drury University. My writing has appeared in Northwest Review, The Literary Review, Cave Region Review, Elder Mountain, Bid Muddy and other lit mags. I also run a small letterpress studio where I make mono-prints, illustrations, zines and poster poems.
